MEET THE DOCTORS

Dr. Jeffery AllgeierJeffrey V. Allgeier, O.D.

 

Dr. Jeffrey Allgeier received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California in 1981. He immediately put his skills to use in establishing the Karawa Eye Center in the jungles of the Republic of Congo, Africa, through the local Christian Church. This 2 1/2 year period gave Dr. Allgeier the opportunity to solidify a caring and serving heart in his professional career, as well as treat a variety of eye diseases which would be difficult to see in an entire career in the United States.

 

Dr. Allgeier's greatest blessings are his wife Marianne and 5 children, Tracy, Jason, Jenna, Travis and Marty.

 

He has enjoyed watching Auburn Family Optometry grow from its inception to a large and successful practice. He serves as the eye doctor for the Children's Home in Sacramento as well as convalescent homes in Auburn.

 

Dr. Allgeier is a member of the American Optometric Association, California Optometric Association and Sacramento Valley Optometric Association. He has received advanced training in Ocular Therapeutics (treatment of eye disease), co-management of laser vision correction, VDT eye care and was the first doctor to perform corneal refractive therapy in the Auburn area.

 

 

Dr. Corrine OdinealCorinne E. Odineal, O.D.

 

Dr. Corinne Odineal graduated from University of California at Berkeley, School of Optometry with honors and has been practicing since 1985. She has had experience as a research optometrist for Cooper Vision, a contact lens company, has worked for an ophthalmologist, and has been in two private practices.

 

Currently her professional interests lie in family vision care, contact lenses and developmental optometry. Developmental optometry is a specialized field of optometry that is interested in preventative care and vision therapy to cure a wide variety of visual problems (i.e., crossed or turned eyes, amblyopia, poor tracking and focusing, reversal problems and other vision-related learning disorders.) Dr. Odineal also cares for the needs of patients with acquired brain injury. Her neuro-optometric care involves specialized testing, the use of rehabilitative lenses and prisms and visual therapy programs to rehabilitate these patients visual needs Dr. Odineal keeps up to date with her continuing education, has a therapeutic license to treat eye disease and takes many courses on developmental and behavioral optometry.

 

In 1998, Dr. Odineal had LASIK done on her own eyes by Dr. Richard Meister with post-surgical follow-up by Dr. Jeffrey Allgeier. She has a very positive personal experience and testimony to share with her patients interested in laser vision correction.

 

Dr. Odineal is the proud mother of her son David and her daughter Dana and the happy wife of Bob, her engineer scientist husband. She is active in her church, her children's schools, educating teachers about vision and keeping physically fit by running and weight lifting. She also has a passion for reading. Dr. Odineal is a Mom's -In-Touch leader for her local school.

 

She is a member of AOA (American Optometric Association), COA (California Optometric Association and the local association (SVOS). She is also a member of OEP (Optometric Extension Program) and COVD (College of Vision Development). She is certified in CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy), Glaucoma Treatment, Ocular Therapies and Neuro-optometric care.

 

 

 

Dr. Stephanie KirschbaumStephanie J. Kirschbaum, O.D.

 

Dr. Stephanie Kirschbaum graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1983 with a degree in Biological Sciences; then she received her doctorate from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1987 with awards for leadership and outstanding contact lens clinical skills. For over a decade, Dr. Kirschbaum has been a state representative for Vision Service Plan. She also was one of the original researchers for the Berkeley Infant Biometry Study of U. C. Berkeley.

 

In 1992 Dr. Stephanie started her private practice in Alamo Ca., where she took care of her patients for twelve years, until she sold the business in order to spend more time with her family. Family and friends are Dr. Stephanie's greatest passions: husband Scott, son Silas and daughter Jolie provide abundant joy and great challenges! Also, she loves gardening, hiking, her two dogs, reading and cycling.

 

Dr. Stephanie and her family moved to Grass Valley from Martinez and she is very eager to learn about the area and get involved in the community and the local Kiwanis Club. Dr. Stephanie was the first woman president of the Walnut Creek Kiwanis Club (92-93). The California Optometric Association awarded Dr. Stephanie with the "Young O.D. of the Year." She is a member of the State and National Optometric Association and is a state representative for Vision Service Plan.

 

 

Dr. Brenda CoenBrenda S. Coen, O.D.

 

Dr. Brenda Coen did her undergraduate work at Gustavus Adolphus in Minnesota and graduated from the University of Missouri School of Optometry in 1990, where she obtained her full therapeutic optometric license. As part of her training she did externships in primary care, contact lenses, and vision therapy. She was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Society for academic excellence and won two different awards for her contact lens related work.

 

After practicing in a variety of settings, including a Veterans Hospital and a pediatric clinic, she now resides with her optometrist husband John and sons in Auburn, California.
Dr. Coen is active in many church and school activities and loves working part time for Auburn Family Optometry, addressing the visual needs of each individual patient.

 

 

Richard B. Meister, M.D.

 

Dr. Meister received two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Oklahoma at Norman. He graduated from medical school at the University of California at Davis. He completed his internal medicine internship at UCLA Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, CA. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Hermann Eye Center, University of Texas at Houston. He served as chief resident and was voted the most outstanding resident by his peers.

 

Dr. Meister is board certified and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been performing refractive surgery since 1984. He has introduced many refractive procedures to Northern California and is considered to be a leader in his field. He has successfully treated thousands of patients. Patients from other states and foreign countries have sought his surgical care. He is also the recipient of the VISX-Star award for being one of the top 50 doctors in the United States to perform refractive surgery.
