The most popular laser treatment is called LASIK. This is a procedure where the surgeon makes a thin flap in the cornea and then ablates the underlying tissue for the proper power. Basically, if you have a nearsighted eye, the cornea is flattened. If you have a farsighted eye, the curvature of the cornea is increased. LASIK is so popular with doctors and patients because there is little to no post-operative discomfort, and the healing time is amazingly fast. Typically patients are seeing well after one day and very clearly after three days. These patients are astounded at the change in their lifestyle.

Drs. Allgeier and Odineal work as a team with surgeon Dr. Richard Meister to ensure the visual success of each of their patients. Dr. Meister has been awarded the VISX Star award for being one of the top 50 doctors in the United States for number of laser procedures. Dr. Meister was also the first surgeon in the Sacramento area to perform refractive procedures and has trained other local surgeons in these procedures.
